SPEED DOMINATES Nissan focuses on special projects
There are two models to choose from, GT-R Premium and GT-R Black Edition, both of which benefit from chassis enhancements and the addition of a new Bose Active Noise Cancellation system tuned to reduce engine booming sounds.
Motivation is derived from a 3.8-litre twinturbo V6 engine that generates 545 horsepower and 463 lb.-ft. of torque, and is mated to a dual clutch six-speed automatic transmission. Nissan’s sport-minded ATTESA E-TS all-wheel-drive system helps bless all GT-R models with unmatched levels of traction, and is capable of sending up to 100 per cent of torque to the rear wheels.
The pinnacle of Nissan performance will arrive as a 2016 model, that being the Nissan GT-R NISMO. Godzilla is back, but this time the twin-turbocharged V6 engine is packing 600 hp and 481 lb.-ft. of torque. The six-speed, dual-clutch automatic employs lightweight steering columnmounted shift paddles which allow for super-quick gear changes when the car is driven in anger.
Advanced aerodynamics, including an enormous carbon-fibre wing, help generate incredible down force and give the car a track weapon look that will appeal to enthusiast drivers and, unfortunately, every patrol car you encounter.
