Hempfest cops

Winnipeg Free Press - SundayXtra - - ENTERTAINMENT SCENE -

LAST November a Washington state referendum, I- 502, more or less legalized possession of up to 30 grams of marijuana. So naturally there was a really festive, smoky atmosphere at the Seattle Hempfest last weekend. How did the cops react? Well, they handed out free bags of Doritos, paid for by private donations and each with a sticker: “Hempfesters! We thought you might be hungry” and then some “dos and don’ts” about the revised law: “Don’t drive while high. Don’t give, sell, or shotgun weed to people under 21,” etc. And then: “Do listen to Dark Side of the Moon at a reasonable volume.”

Not bad, eh? But I’m sure Winnipeg’s police would be every bit as cool, if the law ever changed here. Don’t you think?
