A new Leif

LEIF Garrett, who was sort of the Justin Bieber of the 1970s, has warned Justin, via Fox411, to “not believe your own publicity.

“Sussing out who your real friends are is full- time work. Every scumbag, every drug dealer, every chicken hawk wants a piece of you,” he said.

He should know. A child TV star in the early ‘ 70s, he switched to music in 1976 and the young teen girls went nuts. Then came drug and booze trouble that lasted a long time; in 2010 he was in rehab after a heroin bust.

“When you’ve got that sort of power at that young age,” he told 411, “and everything at your doorstep, you put out that bad boy image… testosterone, hormones, all of the money, you see what else you can get away with.”

He’s 51.
