A 43-YEAR-OLD Win­nipeg man is fac­ing a se­ries of charges re­lated to firearms and con­trolled sub­stances.

Win­nipeg po­lice say they started in­ves­ti­gat­ing Keith James Wil­liam Stewner ear­lier this month for pos­ses­sion of a firearm.

Last Fri­day morn­ing, of­fi­cers from com­mu­nity sup­port units and the tac­ti­cal sup­port team ex­e­cuted a search war­rant at an apart­ment on the 1600 block of Notre Dame Av­enue.

Stewner was ar­rested and of­fi­cers seized sev­eral items, in­clud­ing a loaded firearm with both bar­rels sawed off with the se­rial num­ber de­faced. Of­fi­cers also took 28 .22-cal­i­bre car­tridges, roughly $180 worth of ke­tamine and ap­prox­i­mately $195 worth of metham­phetamine.

Stewner has been charged with two counts of pos­sess­ing a firearm while know­ing it’s unau­tho­rized, two counts of pos­sess­ing a weapon, pos­ses­sion for the pur­pose of weapons traf­fick­ing and pos­ses­sion of con­trolled sub­stances, among other of­fences.
