Hellebuyck’s net income
Re: Jets reward Hellebuyck with $37-million deal (July 12)
I like the signing. We need a good goalie in this league, and if Connor Hellebuyck can continue to improve in the off-season like Mark Scheifele, then all is good.
I would, however, like to have seen the Jets take (Marko) Dano, (Joel) Armia (who is now gone) and (Steve) Mason (gone), and have made a three-for-one deal with another NHL team. We need another hard-nosed, clever player to replace (Paul) Stastny.

Locking up a Vezina-finalist goaltender for his entire prime is a good way to start a Thursday! Now do (Jacob) Trouba and (Josh) Morrissey.
Everything we hear and can glean from watching and listening to him suggests this signing is an excellent investment in the future.
His character, style of play and dedication to fitness and training all say a big yes to this signing. Yay!
Too much money for a guy who’s played two years and only had one good one.
Just think how much more he could have signed for if he could handle the puck like (Mike) Smith, (Martin) Brodeur, (Carey) Price, etc.
Maybe he can learn that skill also.
I like his play in the crease, but he really scares me when he goes to play the puck behind the net.
