Re: Man stabbed defending bus passenger describes harrowing scene (Nov. 5)

I admire the courage of the two young men, Matthew Shorting and Jonathan Meikle, who came to a fellow person’s assistance.

These two men, through their participation with the Bear Clan patrol, have demonstrated a sincere desire to better their community. Further, their actions to prevent a racially motivated assault demonstrated that they have courage and care for their fellow citizens, which is the foundation for an excellent police officer. I think Winnipeg Police Services should be offering these individuals positions as police officers.
