‘See ya later, suckas’
A five-year-old Iowa boy’s quirky spirit was captured perfectly in the heartbreaking obituary he helped write before his untimely death earlier this month.
Garrett Matthias was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer that attacks the temporal bone, cranial nerve and inner ear in September.
The youngster’s death was announced in an obituary in the Des Moines Register with the sign off, “See ya later, suckas! — The Great Garrett Underpants.”
According to the paper, Garrett’s parents, Emilie and Ryan, began writing down comments the boy would make during his treatment.
“We really tried to use his words,” Emilie told the Register. “Garrett was a very unique individual.”
