in Manitoba’s north!

-

Churchill, Manitoba, with its stunning natural setting and deep history, is like nowhere else on earth. This unique remote community on the Hudson Bay coast offers eye-opening and immersive travel unlike anything you’ve ever experienced.

As a family-owned and operated company for over three decades, Frontiers North is proud to share our passionate commitment to Canada’s North. Our unique itineraries and knowledgeable guides will help connect you to this land and its people.

Autumn is all about the polar bears, as the largest land carnivores on earth congregate along the coast waiting for the ice on Hudson Bay to form. Our Tundra Buggy® excursions allow for up-close encounters with these extraordinary animals.

A stay in our Tundra Buggy® Lodge – a line of Buggies set up like well-appointed railcars – lets you fall asleep among the polar bears, and maybe even wake up to one of these curious creatures outside your window.

From the warmth and comfort of the Lodge, you can take in the vast expanse of tundra and the endless northern sky. The observation platforms, open to the elements but a safe distance off the ground, are perfect for outdoor photography.

In the evening, enjoy regional dishes like elk stew or arctic char in the dining car. Afterwards, you can unwind in the lounge – yes, there’s WiFi! – or swap stories about the day’s experiences. The Churchill region’s complex ecosystems – of tundra, boreal forest and Hudson Bay coastline – will be a revelation to nature lovers. The culture, customs and history of this hardy northern town are just as rich.

You can explore centuries of Inuit art at the Itsanitaq museum, experience dog sledding with a professional musher, or investigate the layers of Churchill’s past, from 18th-century fur trading centre to Cold War outpost. And you can meet some of the town’s fascinating people, as warm as their winters are cold.

At Frontiers North Adventures, we are committed to travel that’s culturally connected, environmentally sustainable and – most of all – absolutely unforgettable.
