HOW TO SHUCK AN OYSTER

-

1. Protect your hands with rubber gloves or a dishtowel. This will also allow you to

firmly grip the shell. 2. Grasp the oyster in one hand with the curved side against your palm. The point, or hinge, should be facing toward you. 3. Insert the oyster knife into the hinge, using a twisting motion to separate the top and bottom shells. The hinge should pop when you twist the knife. 4. Run the blade from the hinge of the shell to the other side. 5. Once the top and bottom shells are separated, open the oyster and run the knife along the top shell to separate any

remaining meat.
