From Glastonbur­y to Bonnaroo and Lollapaloo­za, summer is synonymous with music festivals. And now another name joins that list: Roxodus. Among the most anticipate­d new festivals in the world, Roxodus Music Fest debuts at the Edenvale Airport grounds in Stayner, Ont., on July 11, featuring a four-day lineup that includes Peter Frampton, Alice Cooper, Cheap Trick, Blondie (below), Lynyrd Skynyrd, Billy Idol and Aerosmith among others. Western Stars, Bruce Springstee­n The Boss’s first disc of original tunes since 2012 features Americana-inspired themes and, in his own words, “character-driven songs and sweeping, cinematic orchestral arrangemen­ts.”

Originals, Prince The late music legend penned many tunes that others made famous, like “Nothing Compares 2 U” (Sinéad O’Connor) and “Manic Monday” (The Bangles) and now Originals offers Prince’s own takes on 15 such songs via unreleased demos.

All Blues, Peter Frampton Band The guitar god indulges his love of the blues with this cover album before hitting the road on his retirement tour, touching down for two Canadian dates in Montreal and the Roxodus fest in July.

Africa Speaks, Santana Carlos Santana and his band return with an album “inspired by the melodies, sounds and rhythms of Africa” – with many tunes recorded in one take – featuring vocals by award-winning Spanish singer Buika.

Voulez-Vous, ABBA When that summer heat rises into a full-blown disco inferno, reach for ABBA’s classic Voulez-Vous album, celebratin­g its 40th anniversar­y with a coloured vinyl box set and seven-inch picture discs.
