HOW TO TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR & GET STARTED
HOW TO ACCESS MEDICAL CANNABIS
1. TALK TO YOUR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL. Ask your healthcare professional (HCP) about a medical cannabis authorization or request a referral to a cannabinoid specialist. 2. OBTAIN A MEDICAL DOCUMENT. The medical document authorizes the use of medical cannabis. Your HCP may use the generic Health Canada medical document or one from a licensed producer (LP). The medical document specifies your maximum number of grams per day and period of use (up to 12 months). 3. SUBMIT THE MEDICAL DOCUMENT TO A LICENSED PRODUCER. It can be submitted via secure fax or mail to the LP of your choice. This is typically done by the authorizing HCP. You can find a list of medical cannabis LPs on the Government of Canada website. 4. REGISTER WITH THE LICENSED PRODUCER. Complete and submit a registration form to the LP by email, mail or fax. The LP will review and verify the information submitted to make sure nothing is missing. Some LPs will send you confirmation of your registration. 5. ORDER YOUR MEDICAL CANNABIS. Order online or by phone. Some LPs process orders on the same day. 6. YOUR MEDICAL CANNABIS IS SHIPPED TO YOU. Depending on the shipping method you choose, delivery time is typically 1-3 days.
