ROCKING ON

I loved the Gordon Lightfoot piece [”Just Like a Paperback Novel,” March/April]. Living in Toronto in the ’70s, it was an April rite-ofspring passage to go and see Gordon Lightfoot live at the old Massey Hall. Back then, it was Gord, Red Shea on lead guitar and Rick Haynes on bass. Later, they added a drummer. Nicholas Jennings’ book Lightfoot was also a terrific read.

I have a lasting image of Gordon Lightfoot on stage at Massey Hall strumming that big Gibson 12-string guitar. —Ron Thornbury, via email
