UNA TENDENCIA MUNDIAL LLEGA A CHILE

Chilean women are merely following a trend that took off several years ago worldwide. It was in the 1990s when women, who today are icons of the climbing world, first began to leave a mark. Legends such as Lynn Hill, Catherine Destivelle and Beth Rodden are just some of those who years ago helped blazed a path for their Chilean sisters. Today, women’s climbers are so good that the technical gap between men and women is closing significantly. The new generation is setting records at a breakneck pace, womenfolk like Angela Eiter, Margo Hayes, Anak Verhoeven, Sasha DiGiulian and Ashima Shiraishi, the latter just 17-years-old. Las chilenas parecen ir por fin poniéndose al día con lo que hace algunos años ocurrió a nivel mundial. Fue en los 90’ del siglo pasado cuando mujeres que hoy son íconos de la escalada internacional dejaron huella: Lynn Hill, Catherine Destivelle, Beth Rodden fueron algunas de las que marcaron la pauta por aquellos años. Hoy, la escalada femenina ha llegado a tal nivel que los expertos aseguran que se ha reducido significativamente la brecha entre el grado máximo femenino y masculino con los últimos logros cosechados por jóvenes figuras como Angela Eiter, Margo Hayes, Anak Verhoeven, Sasha DiGiulian y Ashima Shiraishi, esta última de apenas 17 años de edad.
