WHAT TO BRING

Dry flies are mostly used in Aysén, particularly large foam flies like Fat Albert and Chernobyl Ant. But streamers and nymphs are also successful. The trout, mostly browns, caught in the Aysén region range from 1-3 pounds in weight. However in the lakes it is possible to catch fish up to 10-20 pounds. The rods most commonly used are # 5 or # 6 weight, 8'- 9', t hough depending on wind conditions a longer rod may be needed. Medium to long leaders are recommended, at least 9' 2x to 4x. Anglers should come prepared f or all weather conditions, even in summer, when temperatures can range between 8- 22° c, but it can snow and be very windy.
