Repair don’t replace
VAUDE, A GERMAN sports equipment company has announced their cooperation with the international service platform, ifixit, by making complete repair and care instructions available for their products. The repair manuals for their gear and apparel can now be found online with photos and short videos that explain each repair step-by-step. In addition, Vaude has added 15 staff to an in-house repair shop and provided access to an extensive stock of spare parts. They are the first European outdoor brand to provide this service. “Ideally, manufacturers should already be thinking about the repairability of their products during the design stage and promoting this by providing repair manuals and spare parts. Vaude is one of those producers, which is why we at ifixit are very pleased about this collaboration,” commented Matthias Mayer, Managing Director of ifixit Europe. ifixit has two million registered users worldwide, with access to more than 20,000 repair manuals for nearly 7,000 individual products.
