F OL LOWING T HEI R ‘ R e s p o n s i b l e Tr a v e l Guidebook’ launched in 2000, the adventure travel retailer has debuted the ‘Thoughtful Traveller Guide’ to help jetsetters plan ethical and sustainable trips. World Expeditions’ Responsible Travel Manager, Donna Lawrence, said the book is a result of demands from customers for quality information and guidance on good travel practices. “Responsible Travel sits at the core of our ethos and we work hard to incorporate its principles in all aspects of operations,” she says. “The booklet inspires people to become stewards for travelling sustainably and responsibly with specific actions listed under headings like: arm yourself with knowledge; protect the vulnerable; support the local economy and respect culture and tradition.” It’s the fruit of the company’s partnerships with organisations such as Rethink Orphanages, World Animal Protection and Leave No Trace, and urges travellers to be open minded and do their due diligence. Staying clear of unethical voluntourism, damaging animal encounters and littering in the wild are just some of the messages it conveys. An e-version can be found at https://bzdn
