Route-finding in Yading

Action Asia - - REAL DEALS -

THIS SEPTEMBER, HONG KONG-BASED a dvent u re s peci a l i s t Whist l i ng Arrow i s launching a trek into a true mountain sanctuary. The aim of the expedition is to forge a new approach route into the sacred mountains of Yading. Here, in a nature reser ve, lie three stunning peaks, sanctified by the fifth Dalai Lama back in the 17th-century. The trek features relatively little support, the aim being to explore peaks, forested valleys and pristine lakes on an ‘unscripted’ adventure through the Tibetan borderlands of western China. Along the way, the team will traverse terrain seldom, if ever, trekked by outsiders. Such an opportunity does not come easily though – this trip best suits relatively experienced trekkers seeking an adventure in the spirit of the intrepid explorers of yesteryear, far from the crowds that clog more established Himalayan routes.
