A Charging Method of Power Li-Ion Battery for Low Temperature

The charge progress at low temperature was analyzed by the first order RC equivalent circuit battery【Abstract】model and the multi-stage constant current charge method for charging Li-ion battery at low temperature was proposed. The ternary polymer Li- ion battery and LiFePO4 battery were selected as the test batteries, the charge method under regular constant current- constant voltage (CC- CV) and multi- stage constant current was tested at 0 ℃ and - 10 ℃, compared and analyzed. The test results show that, compared with CC- CV charging method, the multi- stage constant current charging method shortened the charging time of two batteries and increased electric quantity charged substantially at 0 ℃ and -10 ℃.
