RUSSIAN ART ON DISPLAY IN BEIJING
On August 23, the six- day Russian Art Week opened at the Russian Cultural Centre in Beijing. The event was supported by the Eurasian Art Union and served as a preparation for an art forum on arts and geography, showcasing paintings under the theme of “My Country.”
At the opening ceremony, Olga Melnikova, director of the Russian Cultural Centre in Beijing, delivered a speech welcoming those in attendance. Organisers of the event also expressed their sincere gratitude to the director for her support and assistance in putting together this artistic exhibition.
The event showcased the work of artists from the Commonwealth of Independent States as well as Russia. More than 60 pieces, including oil paintings, pencil sketches and photos, presented the beauty of the artists’ countries. The exhibits were divided into various themes, including architecture, nature, animal life and people.
Russian artists shared their painting skills with event participants and revealed their secrets of “plein air painting.” The event aims to support people around the world who love arts, showcase the charms of Russian art to people in Beijing and promote Russian culture across China.
