FILMING OF BUYIETHNICGROUP’SDRUMS TO BEGIN
Apress conference was recently held at the Howard Johnson Regal Court Hotel to announce the start of filming for Buyi Ethnic Group’s Drums, which is co-produced by the Film and TV Commission of the China Red Culture Research Institute and the Guizhou Jiusen Agricultural Science and Technology Company Limited. The conference was attended by leaders from the China Red Cultural Research Institute and members of the film’s production team.
At the conference, Ms. Zhu Jialin, secretary-general of the Film and TV Commission of the China Red Culture Research Institute and general producer and screenwriter of the film, signed agreements with eight actors including Zhang Wei, Wang Yiming, Wu Rongwei, Yang Hongwei, Geng Boping, Wang Yuzhou, Lu Pan and Wang Kaiwen. The film is being shot to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China, telling the story of demobilised servicemen who assisted local Buyi people to alleviate poverty in southwest Guizhou. It aims to help promote “red culture” in the new socialist countryside.
With the help of experts from the China Red Culture Research Institute, the film’s production team and cast will integrate historical legends of the Buyi people, tales of the Red Army, stories of modern poverty-alleviation volunteer groups in southwest Guizhou, folklore and customs of ethnic minorities and young people’s opinions on marriage to produce a “red culture” themed film. It is understood that from 2018 to 2021, a total of five “red culture” films will be produced, including the Buyi Ethnic Group’s Drums.
