The Nanshan Ski Re­sort will usher in its 18th ski sea­son in late Novem­ber of this year. Nanshan has con­tin­ued in­vest­ment and con­struc­tion since it opened in 2001 to im­prove its ser­vices and fa­cil­i­ties.

The re­sort has ex­tended its hours, al­low­ing peo­ple in Miyun District and Bei­jing in gen­eral to en­joy Nanshan in the evening. Night ski­ing will be avail­able from 18:00 to 21:30 dur­ing the 2018–19 sea­son, ex­cept on New Year’s Eve and Lu­nar New Year’s Eve, when the re­sort will only be open dur­ing the day. A to­tal of nine runs will be avail­able; chair­lifts, magic car­pets and ski­ing and snow­board­ing equip­ment will also be fully avail­able dur­ing the night ski­ing hours.

Night ski­ing is rea­son­ably priced at 120 yuan to help pop­u­larise ski­ing and pro­mote the up­com­ing 2022 Olympic and Par­a­lympic Win­ter Games. This in­cludes en­try, lift tick­ets, in­sur­ance and rental of all nec­es­sary equip­ment. The price for five and a half hours be­gin­ning in the af­ter­noon is 180 yuan on week­days and 245 yuan on week­ends, fes­ti­vals and hol­i­days.

The “Cool Snow” ski re­sort man­age­ment sys­tem is used at Nanshan Ski Re­sort. This in­volves the use of con­ve­nient pay­ment meth­ods such as Wechat wal­let and Ali­pay. A sin­gle card is is­sued at the site to han­dle elec­tronic ticket ver­i­fi­ca­tion and use of magic car­pets, chair­lifts, other lift equip­ment, din­ing, ski­ing and snow­board­ing gear and cloth­ing rental. Classes can also be ar­ranged for an ad­di­tional fee.

The nine main runs have all been widened by five me­tres each. The Nanshan Ski School in­cludes an In­ter­na­tional Ex­change De­part­ment that con­ducts in­ter­na­tional pro­grammes and a Chil­dren’s Ski­ing De­part­ment that ar­ranges lessons for chil­dren and ado­les­cents. The 9th Ski Fash­ion Press Con­fer­ence will se­lect snow sports mod­els from male and fe­male ski­ing and snow­board­ing en­thu­si­asts. Win­ners will re­ceive free ad­mis­sion to Les Chalets de Rosael in the French Alps, which was rated as the world’s best ski re­sort in 2017. The fifth Nanshan Freeski Open will join the AFP (As­so­ci­a­tion of Freeski­ing Pro­fes­sion­als) com­pe­ti­tion sys­tem. In­ter­na­tional mas­ters will com­pete with lo­cal skiers. The sec­ond Nanshan (In­ter­na­tional) Youth Ski­ing Com­pe­ti­tion will kick off in late Fe­bru­ary 2019. The 12th Nanshan Am­a­teur Mogul Ski­ing event will con­tinue to host the com­pe­ti­tion for pre­vi­ous cham­pi­ons.

The 2018–19 ski sea­son is com­ing soon. Nanshan cards fea­ture a new de­sign and have been avail­able for pre­sale since Novem­ber 1, 2018.
