The Nanshan Ski Resort will usher in its 18th ski season in late November of this year. Nanshan has continued investment and construction since it opened in 2001 to improve its services and facilities.
The resort has extended its hours, allowing people in Miyun District and Beijing in general to enjoy Nanshan in the evening. Night skiing will be available from 18:00 to 21:30 during the 2018–19 season, except on New Year’s Eve and Lunar New Year’s Eve, when the resort will only be open during the day. A total of nine runs will be available; chairlifts, magic carpets and skiing and snowboarding equipment will also be fully available during the night skiing hours.
Night skiing is reasonably priced at 120 yuan to help popularise skiing and promote the upcoming 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. This includes entry, lift tickets, insurance and rental of all necessary equipment. The price for five and a half hours beginning in the afternoon is 180 yuan on weekdays and 245 yuan on weekends, festivals and holidays.
The “Cool Snow” ski resort management system is used at Nanshan Ski Resort. This involves the use of convenient payment methods such as Wechat wallet and Alipay. A single card is issued at the site to handle electronic ticket verification and use of magic carpets, chairlifts, other lift equipment, dining, skiing and snowboarding gear and clothing rental. Classes can also be arranged for an additional fee.
The nine main runs have all been widened by five metres each. The Nanshan Ski School includes an International Exchange Department that conducts international programmes and a Children’s Skiing Department that arranges lessons for children and adolescents. The 9th Ski Fashion Press Conference will select snow sports models from male and female skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts. Winners will receive free admission to Les Chalets de Rosael in the French Alps, which was rated as the world’s best ski resort in 2017. The fifth Nanshan Freeski Open will join the AFP (Association of Freeskiing Professionals) competition system. International masters will compete with local skiers. The second Nanshan (International) Youth Skiing Competition will kick off in late February 2019. The 12th Nanshan Amateur Mogul Skiing event will continue to host the competition for previous champions.
The 2018–19 ski season is coming soon. Nanshan cards feature a new design and have been available for presale since November 1, 2018.
