In­ter­net of Ve­hi­cles

Bei­jing will pro­mote the in­tel­li­gent con­nected ve­hi­cle (ICV) in­dus­try and re­lated in­dus­tries, whose mar­ket value is ex­pected to reach 100 bil­lion yuan ($14.4 bil­lion) by 2022, ac­cord­ing to a white pa­per re­leased by lo­cal au­thor­i­ties on Oc­to­ber 21.

Bei­jing will ad­vance in­no­va­tion and re­search on ICVS to en­sure they can be used for the 2022

Win­ter Olympics, said a white pa­per is­sued by the Bei­jing Mu­nic­i­pal Com­mis­sion of Econ­omy and In­for­ma­tion Tech­nol­ogy on the side­lines of the World In­tel­li­gent Con­nected Ve­hi­cles Con­fer­ence held in Bei­jing from Oc­to­ber 18 to 21.

A 50,000-hectare pi­lot zone will be es­tab­lished and over 2,000 km of roads will be ear­marked in Bei­jing for test­ing the ICVS.

The city will also ac­cel­er­ate con­struc­tion of an in­tel­li­gent traf­fic sys­tem and the In­ter­net of Ve­hi­cles.

The de­vel­op­ment of ICVS can im­prove traf­fic safety, meet en­ergy sav­ing and emis­sion re­duc­tion tar­gets, elim­i­nate traf­fic con­ges­tion and bring so­cial ben­e­fits.
