More than 500,000 peo­ple liv­ing be­low China’s poverty line have been em­ployed as gov­ern­ment­paid for­est rangers as part of eco­log­i­cal poverty-re­lief pro­grams, ac­cord­ing to the Na­tional Forestry and Grass­land Ad­min­is­tra­tion on Novem­ber 16.

Zhang Jian­long, Di­rec­tor of the ad­min­is­tra­tion, said forestry au­thor­i­ties na­tion­wide had re­cruited rangers from im­pov­er­ished pop­u­la­tion.
