A seminar on the book Xijinping: Thegoverna­nceofchina was held in Madrid, Spain, on November 22, days before the scheduled visit to the country by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

A total of 200 guests, including senior officials from the two countries, attended the event and held an in-depth discussion about the book.

The book opens a window for audiences around the world to better understand China’s achievemen­ts, said Wang Xiaohui, Executive Deputy Head of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The work gives a historical insight into China, expounds the purpose of China’s reform and developmen­t and provides Chinese wisdom to solving global issues, said Wang, who is also vice director of the Policy Research Office of the CPC Central Committee.

The book will help people better understand the key to China’s success, Wang added. choose city councilors and village leaders.

Ko Wen-je, the independen­t candidate, won the mayoral election in Taipei with 3,200 more votes than Ting Shou-chung, a candidate from the Kuomintang.

Ting filed a lawsuit to challenge the validity of the election in the early hours of November 25.

Tsai Ing-wen announced her resignatio­n as the chair of the Democratic Progressiv­e Party late on November 24.
