The first pair of next-gen­er­a­tion rail cars built by the CRRC, the world’s largest pro­ducer of rail tran­sit equip­ment, in its North Amer­i­can fac­tory in Spring­field City, Mas­sachusetts. The CRRC said on De­cem­ber 18 that it has com­pleted the pro­duc­tion of the sub­way cars to be de­liv­ered to Mas­sachusetts. The sub­way trains will re­place the cars serv­ing the Orange Line of Bos­ton for decades.

The CRRC is man­u­fac­tur­ing 404 sub­way ve­hi­cles for Mas­sachusetts, in­clud­ing 152 for the Orange Line and 252 for the Red Line.
