Wuhan tops list in patent li­cens­ing among sub­provin­cial cities

The 2018 Hubei Provin­cial Con­fer­ence for direc­tors of In­tel­lec­tual Prop­erty Bureau re­vealed on March 13 that patents in Hubei are ex­pected to break through 7.5 per 10,000 res­i­dents.

Ac­cord­ing to a source from the Hubei In­tel­lec­tual Prop­erty Bureau, the num­ber of patent ap­pli­ca­tions in Hubei in 2017 amounted to 110,234. Wuhan's patent li­cens­ing rate ranked first among China's sub-provin­cial cities.

Over­all ,Hubei's in­tel­lec­tual prop­erty pro­tec­tion de­vel­op­ment in­dex ranked eighth na­tion­wide, and first in Cen­tral China, ac­cord­ing to the "Eval­u­a­tion Re­port on the De­vel­op­ment of In­tel­lec­tual Prop­erty in China" is­sued by the State In­tel­lec­tual Prop­erty Of­fice.

Last year, the num­ber of patents in Hubei was 6.87 per 10,000 res­i­dents. Patent ap­pli­ca­tions per 10,000 res­i­dents is an in­ter­na­tion­ally ac­cepted in­di­ca­tor that shows a coun­try's or re­gion's in­no­va­tive ca­pac­ity.
