City pro­mot­ing house­hold waste sort­ing

A waste-sort­ing pi­lot project in the Jindu Han­gong res­i­den­tial com­mu­nity on Jiyuqiao, Wuchang Dis­trict, kicked off on March21. A hun­dred waste-sort­ing pro­mot­ers be­gan th eir work at th e same time. Ac­cord­ing to the Wuhan Mu­nic­i­pal Com­mis­sion for Ur­ban Man­age­ment, waste sort­ing will be car­ried out through­out the city this year af­ter the tri­als are fin­ished in 811 res­i­den­tial com­mu­ni­ties.

As one of the waste-sort­ing com­mu­ni­ties, the Jindu Han­gong com­mu­nity has op­ti­mized the lo­ca­tions of dust­bins, in­stalled in­tel­li­gent equip­ment, in­clud­ing five types of dust­bins, each­color-coated to be used with­five types of waste prod­ucts: kitchen waste, re­cy­clable waste, toxic and harm­ful waste, fab­ric waste, and mis­cel­la­neous garbage.

Af­ter res­i­dents have put their garbage into the dust­bins, com­mu­nity staff mem­bers start to work. They scan th e QR code on th e garbage bags and cal­cu­late points for each house­hold. When a fam­ily has ac­cu­mu­lated a cer­tain num­ber of points, they can get daily ne­ces­si­ties for free as a re­ward.
