The Tujia musical Sister Huangsi w as put on the stage of the SouthCentral University for Nationalities on March 20 and 21 by the Ethnic Singing and Dancing Troupe of Hubei Province. It was part of the 2018 traditional culture activities at the university.

Based on Tujia's traditional folk song "Sister Huangsi" about the love story of a beautiful Tujia girl w thi an outgoing and smart young man, it is the first original musical that displays the life of the Tujia people.

The musical was performed in local dialect and greatly impressed audiences. Zhang Zhen, a university student from the university, said that through the musical, he got a deeper understanding of the Tujia culture. Another Russian audience member Dasha expressed a similar opinion, saying that she was touched by the story between Sister Huangsi and her lover.
