Nine-year-old girl cycles around Bohai Bay in 18 days

Changjiang Weekly - - SOCIETY - By Liu Chenwei

Nine-year-old Huang Tianyuan and her father Huang Zaizhou set off on their bicycles from Weihai for their tour of Bohai Bay on July 3. They passed through Shandong, Hebei, Tianjin, and Liaoning before finally arriving in Dalian, taking 18 days to finish the 1,540-kilometer journey. This wonderful experience was a special gift from the father for his daughter's 10th birthday.

Huang Zaizhou started to do some training with his daughter in March, riding along East Lake Greenway every weekend. Six months prior to their departure, they rode for about 31 kilometers every day between their home and Jinyinhu Wetland Park.

On July 2, Huang and his daughter tooka train to Weihai,

carrying nearly 100 kilograms of luggage with them. He said that in addition to clothing, a drone, and bike repair tools, they also tookvarious kinds of medicine in case of dermatitis, abrasions, heat stroke, diarrhea, and mosquito bites along the journey.

They often grabbed a quick bite of noodles or dumplings from roadside food stands. When his daughter complained or felt tired, Huang would cheer her up by telling her his own childhood stories. After some days' riding, she had stopped crying because of pain or hardship.

Huang hopes that this precious experience will become the most beautiful memory in his daughter's life.
