Banbi Rock: Appreciate the stone forest

Changjiang Weekly - - SHENNONGJIA -

Banbi Rock (板壁岩) is located in the Shennongjia National Nature Reserve, 45 kilometers away from Muyu Town. Dense arrow bamboos are all over the mountains, growing like a unique natural barrier, blocking the wind. Within the bamboo forest are rocks and stones of indescribable and diversified patterns. This karst landform, similar to the famous Guilin Stone Forest, is a rare scene in northwestern Hubei.

This area is also haunted by the legendary Shennongjia "wild man." The remains of higher primates, such as hair, feces and bamboo nests, are often found in the arrow bamboo forest.
