Esports debut at Asian Games 2018
On August 26, esports kicked off its Asian Games
2018 journey as a demonstration sport at a glittering ceremony with over
150 gamers — including the team from China — from 18 different countries, tussling for supremacy in an electrifying atmosphere.
In the game of Arena of Valor, China won the first place. It attracted much attention from locals and Chinese esports enthusiasts.
The Asian Esports Federation has confirmed which games will be featured at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia. The games selected are League of Legends, Hearthstone, Starcraft II, Pro Evolution Soccer, Clash Royale, and Arena of Valor.
Last year, the Olympic Council of Asia announced a partnership with Alisports, the sporting subsidiary of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, to add esports events to the 2018 and 2022 Asian Games.
