5th In­ter­na­tional Drama Sea­son to be­gin

The 5th In­ter­na­tional Drama Sea­son at Zhong­nan Theater will go from Septem­ber through De­cem­ber, bring­ing in 19 dra­mas from home and abroad to lo­cal au­di­ences.

Among in the in­ter­na­tional live dra­mas are the Ja­panese ver­sion of "Jour­ney to the West," the Span­ish mime show "An­dre and Dorine," and a Brazil­ian show "Salina, the Last Ver­te­bra."

Also in­cluded is an ar­ray of per­for­mances specif­i­cally de­signed for chil­dren. These per­for­mances are "Martha," a Sino-U.K. co­op­er­a­tive pro­gram, "Time for Fun," a phys­i­cal show from Saint Peters­burg Plas­tic Hands Theater, and "Elis­apee and the North­ern Lights," a Cana­dian play fea­tur­ing live mu­sic and shadow theater.

Nine in­ter­na­tion­ally cel­e­brated plays will be brought to the au­di­ence via HD films. They in­clude Shake­speare's Globe Theater's "Twelfth Night," the Royal Opera House's "The Magic Flute," the Na­tional Theater's "An­gels in Amer­ica" and "Fol­lies," Royal Shake­speare Com­pany's "Mac­beth," and Stage Rus­sia HD's "The Three Sis­ters."

Four do­mes­tic plays, namely, a Chi­nese ver­sion of "Blithe Spirit," the mu­si­cal "The Won­der­ful Ad­ven­tures of Nils," a pup­pet show called "Teenager Con­fu­cius" and a drama named "Wang Hebo" both by Wuhan Peo­ple's Art Theater will also show dur­ing the drama sea­son.
