Up­graded Yuehu Bridge fa­cil­i­tates traf­fic be­tween Hanyang & Hankou

The ex­pan­sion project of the Yuehu Bridge has been com­pleted. The project con­verted the sec­tion of Han­jiang Boule­vard from Jiefang Av­enue to Meizis­han Pas­sage into an ex­press­way. The ex­press­way was opened for traf­fic on Au­gust 31. Ac­cord­ing to the Wuhan Ur­ban Con­struc­tion In­vest­ment & De­vel­op­ment Group, this ex­press­way fa­cil­i­tates the traf­fic from Jiefang Av­enue and Zhong­shan Av­enue to Zhiyin Av­enue and Jiangcheng Av­enue.

The main line of the widened 1.86-kilo­me­ter-long Yuehu Bridge, with three lanes in each di­rec­tion, forms part of the ex­press­way. Its main body is de­signed for a top driv­ing speed of 60 kilo­me­ters per hour. The ground aux­il­iary road is de­signed for a top speed of 40 kilo­me­ters per hour.

Han­jiang Boule­vard, which con­nects the Hanyang and the Hankou sec­tions of the Third Ring Road, will be built in line with the stan­dards of ur­ban ex­press­ways with a de­signed speed of 60 kilo­me­ters per hour.

Us­ing the Yuehu Bridge and the Baofeng Road Over­pass, it took our jour­nal­ist five min­utes to drive from the Meizis­han Pas­sage to Tongji Hospi­tal on Jiefang Av­enue.

Be­fore the ex­pan­sion, it usu­ally took over ten min­utes to drive from Hanyang to Jiefang Av­enue us­ing the Yuehu Bridge and Qiaokou Road.
