Red Dot designs to land in Wuhan
On September 3, the Wuhan Investment Promotion Bureau announced that an exhibition of industrial product designs from Red Dot will take place in Wuhan this November.
The Red Dot Design Award, considered the Oscar of the design industry, is one of the most internationally established design prizes and is awarded by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Germany.
Red Dot is scheduled to take part in the 2nd China Industrial Design Exhibition due to open in Wuhan on November 24. It will hold a fair on industrial designs over a period of five months and is expected to be its largest time-scale display in China. Focusing on the history of industrial development, the fair will present over 200 product designs from more than 40 countries, ranging from the 19th century wooden bicycle design to today's iphone designs. Over 90% of the exhibits, covering household and sports items, stationery, digital products and vehicles, will be designs granted with "Best of the Best," the top prize in the Red Dot awards.
According to Wuhan Investment Promotion Bureau, Red Dot will set up a design school in Wuhan in the next three to five years and intends to open a local Red Dot museum.
