Wil­son: the first Eu lush gar­den in Wes

A hun­dred years ago, the Bri­tish botanist Ernest Henry Wil­son trav­elled across the ocean to China to col­lect plant s Mu­seum. A bridge in the Shen­g­longjia Na­tional Na­ture Re­serve is named af­ter him.

The young Wil­son was dis­patched to China four times by the Veitch Nurs­eries be­tween 1899 and 1911. Over this pe Hubei, Chongqing, Sichuan, and Yun­nan. He in­tro­duced an ex­ten­sive range of non-na­tive plants into Western gar­dens a land­scapes, Wil­son fac­tu­ally doc­u­mented a pe­riod of his­tory of the Three Gorges in China a cen­tury ago.
