How Supply Chain Resilience Affects Supply Chain Performance： the Mediating Effect of Sustainability

Abstract：In recent years，the global supply chain has become more and more fragile due to frequent natural disasters， unstable policy environment and increasingly complex business environment. Interruption and even failure events occur from time to time，which reduces the operation efficiency of the supply chain，improves the operation cost，reduces the quality of customer service and affects the performance of the supply chain. And this triggered the new requirements of supply chain operation：one is resilience，the other is sustainability. The author uses the enterprise questionnaire data to construct the structural equation model to conduct the reliability and validity analysis. It is found that：supply chain resilience has significant positive effect on supply chain sustainability (such as the economic，social and environment sustainability)；supply chain sustainability has significant positive effect on supply chain performance；supply chain resilience has no direct positive impact on supply chain performance； while，with the mediating role of supply chain sustainability，supply chain resilience has the indirect effect on supply chain performance. In practice，to sustainably develop the supply chain，improve supply chain performance，we should have the awareness of responding to the risk of disruption，multi- dimensionally enhance the resilience of supply chain. And enterprises involved in the supply chain should sustainably foster their capacity for resilience，and formulate the effective strategy on how to integrate into the supply chain. The mediating role of supply chain suitability demonstrates that we should implement supply chain management from multi- angle，such as the sustainability of economy，society，and environment，improve supply chain enterprises’capability for innovative development，dynamically choose their partners，pay more attention to partners’activities in terms of environmental protection，and promote the green development of supply chain enterprises.
