Abstract:To explore the interactive relation between supply chain management and digital technology ,the authors study the impact of supply chain management on digital efforts of manufacturing companies from such three dimensions as supply chain internationalization, supplier concentration and customer concentration by using the data of 544 listed manufacturing companies in four industries and measuring the digitalization through content analysis. The empirical tests show that supply chain management has significant impact on digital efforts, the impact of the characteristics of supply chain on the digital efforts of manufacturing companies is not in single direction ;it may promote companies’digital transformation, and also may hinder that. Specifically speaking, higher supply chain internationalization increases digital efforts ;on the contrary, higher supplier concentration and customer concentration decreases digital efforts. Moreover ,the manufacturing firms acting in line with their digitalization strategies means that Chinese listed manufacturing companies are positively adopting digital technology to improve their competitiveness. The companies should select appropriate level of digitalization with respect to the characteristics of the industry and supply chain, find out the reasons leading to their high or low level of digitalization, timely adjust their strategies about digitalization effort, and smoothly implement digital transformation.
