Algerian satellite begins operations
Algeria’s first communications satellite, which was developed and built by China, was put into full service this month, according to China Great Wall Industry Corp, the contractor. An in-orbit delivery ceremony for the Alcomsat 1 was held at the Algerian Space Agency’s headquarters in Algiers earlier this month. Alcomsat 1 was launched in December on a Long March 3B carrier rocket at the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan province. It is the ninth telecommunications satellite China has exported and the first space cooperation program between China and Algeria.
