New lab for ra­dio tele­scope opens

A new lab­o­ra­tory, known as KLFAST, for China’s Five-hun­dred-me­ter Aper­ture Spher­i­cal Ra­dio Tele­scope, the world’s largest sin­gle-dish ra­dio tele­scope, has opened in Ping­tang county, Guizhou province. The lab, es­tab­lished by the Chi­nese Academy of Sciences in Jan­uary, will fo­cus on pro­mot­ing re­search and tech­no­log­i­cal de­vel­op­ment of low-fre­quency ra­dio astron­omy based on FAST.
