New swine fever out­breaks re­ported

China con­firmed new out­breaks of African swine fever in Shaanxi and Guizhou prov­inces, the Min­istry of Agri­cul­ture and Ru­ral Af­fairs said on Dec 10. On a farm in Shenmu, a county-level city in Shaanxi, 19 pigs were con­firmed in­fected with the vi­ral disease. All of them had died, the min­istry said, cit­ing a China An­i­mal Disease Con­trol Cen­ter re­port. Out­breaks were also found in the Baiyun district of Guiyang, Guizhou, where five pigs were in­fected and con­firmed dead, it said. A team was dis­patched to Shaanxi and Guizhou im­me­di­ately, and lo­cal au­thor­i­ties have ini­ti­ated an emer­gency re­sponse to pre­vent the spread of the disease.
