Breakthrough in drug detection
Researchers have codeveloped a sensor that is able to detect a person’s drug intake with a drop of sweat, saliva or urine. Right now, drug testing involves using complex diagnostic devices that are often bulky, expensive and slow. The newly developed portable sensor — sized at 1.5 x 3.5 centimeters — is 10,000 times as accurate as existing portable drugscreening devices. If commercialized, the team said the technology will make drug screening as easy as testing for alcohol intake with a breathalyzer.
