Building a play
More than just walls and buildings, cities are “collective memories of the people,” according to Italy’s architectpoet Aldo Rossi. Based on this interpretation, cross-media artist and arts director Mathias Woo assembled a multidisciplinary team to reinterpret alternative experiences of space in Hong Kong. The 80-minute performance combines images, music, stage, lighting and live piano accompaniment. A large bamboo structure is built live on the stage. Josie and the Uni Boys of Hong Kong and the pianist KJ Wong interpret the sounds, playing these on piano during the show, thus creating a unique theme music inspired by Bach and the texts of Rossi.
