Firms’ environmental disclosure evaluated
Listed companies in China did not perform well in environmental information disclosure in 2017, but they did make “a little” progress over 2016, said an evaluation report released by Beijing University of Chemical Technology on Sunday. At the invitation of the China Forum of Environmental Journalists, the university surveyed 857 companies listed on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock markets to evaluate their reporting of environment issues in 2017. The report said 85 percent of the companies were graded below 50. A full score would be 100. The mining industry, hotels, catering and transportation ranked highest, while information, public health, scientific research and media were at the bottom.
