FAW-Volkswagen Audi sales grow by 5.3%

FAW-Volkswagen Audi sold 63,888 vehicles in the Chinese market in January, a monthly record high, data posted on the company’s website showed. The sales represented a 5.3-percent growth from the same period last year. Domestically-manufactured models, whose sales grew 3.9 percent year-on-year, accounted for almost 91 percent of the cars sold last month, while 5,500 of the vehicles sold were imported models, according to FAW-Volkswagen Audi. Audi became a shareholder of the Sino-German car making joint venture FAW-Volkswagen in 1996 and has since produced models in the country through the partnership.
