Household items are loaded up for transport to a safer location as residents of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the main city on the island of Tenerife, on Monday make preparations under threat from a volcano. Eruptions in Spain’s Canary Islands began on Sunday afternoon on the island of La Palma. Tremors shook the island, with rivers of lava flowing toward the sea on Tuesday. About 100 properties have been destroyed and 6,000 people evacuated.
