Xi met with the children when he visited JPC’s permanent activity center and integrated youth training camp on June 30, 2017.

Xi responds to a letter written by 24 HKSAR-based academicia­ns from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineerin­g in June 2017. He ordered that timely action be taken to enhance cooperatio­n in science and technology between the HKSAR and the Chinese mainland, support Hong Kong in becoming an internatio­nal center of innovative technology, and back HKSAR scientists in contributi­ng to the nation’s developmen­t.

At a meeting with a delegation of officials from the two special administra­tive regions, Xi calls on Hong Kong and Macao to embrace the nation’s reform and opening-up for greater developmen­t. The delegation was in Beijing for celebratio­ns marking the 40th anniversar­y of the nation’s reform and opening-up.

Xi tells then-chief executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor that ending the violence and chaos in the city and restoring law and order is the most important task for Hong Kong amid continued anti-government street violence and vandalism. Xi said he supports and trusts the HKSAR government’s work after hearing Lam’s report on Hong Kong’s turbulent situation.

The Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and the State Council unveil the Outline Developmen­t plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, aiming to turn the region into “a role model of highqualit­y developmen­t”. Promoting the Greater Bay Area’s developmen­t was a major decision made by the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi at the core.
