Donation to boost teaching facilities
The 2018 Green Panda — Asia Environmental Knowledge Sharing Forum was held on Oct 26 by Japan and China Peace Friendly Contact, Reignwood Group, China National Building Material Group and Brilliant Culture Group. The forum invited scholars, business representatives, and NGO officials to share their opinions on key environmental issues, such as garbage disposal, greening and urbanization. The forum also announced the establishment of a new website for panda protection. The launch ceremony for the Yueer Reading Program was held at an elementary school in Shangri La in Southwest China’s Yunnan province on Oct 25. Aimed at promoting reading in remote mountainous regions, where students have little access to the outside world due to inefficient transport systems, the project was co-launched by K. Wah Group chairman Lui Che-woo has donated 200 million yuan ($28.7 million) to Tsinghua University to build a new biomedical science building. Named Lui Che-woo Building, the project had its signing ceremony on Oct 25 at Tsinghua. According to Lui, the donation is aimed at offering better research and teaching facilities, and further development in pharmaceutical and biological sciences as well as other related fields.
