Chem­i­cal in­dus­try warns of ris­ing risks

Ger­man chem­i­cals pro­duc­ers are in­creas­ingly con­cerned about risks stem­ming from grow­ing trade con­flicts, the United King­dom’s im­pend­ing exit from the Euro­pean Union, as well as ten­sions in the Mid­dle East de­spite strong per­for­mance in the first quar­ter of 2018, warned a re­port pub­lished on Wed­nes­day by the As­so­ci­a­tion of the Chem­i­cals In­dus­try. The re­port high­lighted that gross rev­enue in the com­pa­nies it rep­re­sents grew 5.7 per­cent year-on-year, reach­ing a to­tal of 51.1 bil­lion eu­ros ($43.3 bil­lion) in the first quar­ter of this year. At the same time, out­put in­creased by 6.7 per­cent on an an­nual ba­sis.
