DoubleTree by Hilton Shenyang in Northeast China’s Liaoning province held a Christmas tree lighting ceremony and charity bazaar on Dec 1. All the charity bazaar revenue has been donated to the kids from a special school for mentally challenged students in Shenyang. The hotel said its Care Committee will continue working on developing and implementing creative ideas and innovative approaches to build a real, warm and caring environment in the community. Sheraton Grand Wuhan Hankou Hotel in central China’s Hubei province held a Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Nov 30, marking the start of its festival season promotion. The hotel will offer Thai-style set meals and a themed dinner on Dec 24 and 25 at its restaurants, where singers participating in the Voice of China, a Chinese reality talent TV show, will stage performances. Kuntai Hotel Beijing hosted a Christmas tree lighting ceremony, in cooperation with the One Foundation and other partners, on Nov 30 to celebrate its seventh anniversary. During the event, a charity auction took place, with items for sale including a painting created by children from Loves, a bilingual-language kindergarten in Beijing. All the proceeds will be used to support the One Foundation’s charity programs for children in poor mountainous regions. V-Continent Beijing Parkview Wuzhou Hotel in Beijing will offer themed dinners from Dec 22 to 24 to celebrate this year’s Christmas. The offerings will include a buffet feast that will present more than 200 cuisines from around the globe, priced at 688 yuan ($100) per person. Live band performances will also be on hand, adding an uplift to the festival atmosphere, according to the hotel.

Guoman Hotel Shanghai presented the Malaysia Street Bazaar 2018, a food, culture and tourism promotion event, from Nov 15 to 18, demonstrating authentic Malaysian cuisines, brands, handicrafts and multicultural performances, as well as destination packages. The Sichuan Food Culture Tour 2018 was held in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu in late November to promote the cuisine and culture of the southwestern Chinese province among the Nepali people. Over a dozen Sichuan dishes were served in the food fiesta prepared by master chefs with an original ethnic flair.
