Tsunami remnants include porcelain
Remnants of a tsunami that hit the shore of the island of Nan’ao, off Guangdong province, 1,000 years ago have attracted archaeological interest with the discovery of a large amount of porcelain debris. According to research into the tsunami remnants led by the University of Science and Technology of China and East China Normal University, the sedimentary section on the shore of Nan’ao contains stone mortars and porcelain pieces dating to the Song Dynasty (960-1279).
